Parenting Classes

The Center for Children & Families, Inc. has created two programs that can assist parents in the everyday tasks of parenting. Divorce Visitation Arbitration and Parents Assistance both work with parents to create a better situation for their children.

Divorce Visitation Arbitration
Parents Assistance
Teenage Parenting

Divorce Visitation Arbitration works with parents dealing with divorce/separation. Two classes are offered that can help divorced and separated parents learn to work with each other for their children and families.

"Divorce & Children" Parent Education Class is a 4-hour session required for divorcing parents by Cleveland County judges. Class topics include the effects of divorce on kids and cooperative parenting skills. The cost of this program is $35.00 and

"Children In The Middle" Parent Group is a group that provides information and skills to lay the foundation for all other DVA services. This series is required for parents to receive visitation or mediation/arbitration services.

Parents Assistance provides several different classes and sessions that will help parents learn how to interact with their children.

Anger & Parenting for parents learning to manage their anger and respond to angry children.

Parenting in Recovery for parents who are in recovery from alcoholism or drug abuse, domestic violence, codependency, or other life changing situations.

Parenting Skills for parents who are ready for parenting skills related to their specific needs.

Growth in Parenting for parents who have done a lot of learning and who are in need of support and dialogue about their parenting.

Basics of Care for parents to learn about nurturing routines, childproofing, children’s growth, when to get medical care, choosing childcare, good touch/bad touch, supervision, etc.

Raising a child, as a teenager is a very trying experience and our Teenage Parenting program can help. With the help of a support group you can grow with your baby. Small group discussions and topics suggested by you and other teen parents give you the chance to grow and explore issues. We also have Time for Dads, Education Workshops, and School Support Groups.
